Today I saw one vorticella. I didn't get a picture of it, but it was moving around quite aggressively. There was a bounty of rotiphers, some of them moving very quickly. One very unfortunate rotipher was eaten by a large laxophyllum. The rotipher approached the laxophyllum with a mischievous glint in his eye, but the laxophyllum would have no plots against him...so he made short work of the rotipher. I have no doubt that the laxophyllum made other rotiphers into meals after I left the laboratory.
